Darryl Marchant steps down as Lead of FUSION

by fusionqt @ Wednesday, May. 31, 2006 - 02:33:21 pm
FUSION received some sad news recently when we learned that Darryl Marchant would have to leave the quartet for personal reasons. Our lead singer, one of the original members of the quartet, and the most experienced quartet singer in the group, Darryl was obviously a key component to our success to date. Even with all of those reasons, the hardest part of Darryl leaving is that the four of us are good friends first and foremost, and to be able to sing with your friends is a great gift. Of course, Darryl, along with wife Nancy and daughter Charlotte, are always going to be good friends of ours, and there will be many afterglows and campfires where we'll get to sing together again. Brent, John and Pat want to thank Darryl for over two years of great quartet memories and we look forward to seeing one of Ontario's best leads in a quartet sometime in the future.

Speaking of the future, the remaining members of FUSION are looking towards ours. We are currently on the lookout for a new lead singer to continue our musical journey, and you can be sure once we've found our guy, you'll hear about it right here - so stay tuned!

Wow, what a weekend!

by fusionqt @ Wednesday, Apr. 26, 2006 - 11:16:01 pm
Wow, what a weekend! We would like to thank Ontario District for another great convention this past weekend. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed sharing the stage with the best Ontario District has to offer, as well as Gordon Lightfoot. Fusion is proud to have had the opportunity to chat with this legend in Canadian music, former barbershopper, and now lifetime member of the Barbershop Harmony Society.

Other than preparing for and attending the convention, Fusion has been very busy on other fronts.

Fusion looks back fondly on a busy first 1/3 of 2006, including: Top Gun, a trip to Germany, several shows with the Toronto Northern Lights, our Mini.ca commercial, and Ontario District's Spring Convention. We look forward to the balance of the year which will start this weekend as we headline the St. Thomas Chapter's annual show.

Thank you to all of our families and friends for their support, and especially to all of you babershoppers out there who continue to inspire us. We look forward to performing for you in the near future!

FUSION is Famous!!!

by fusionqt @ Tuesday, Apr. 04, 2006 - 08:54:04 am
Well maybe not famous but we are featured on the Mini.ca website. A few weeks ago, FUSION was contacted to record a few songs and other "sound clips" to be used for MINI's new ad campaign, "The MINI Family - A Quartet with Attitude". We had a blast recording all the material and once you take a look at MINI.ca, you'll know why! :) There are several "easter eggs" that you will only hear if you move your mouse over the right spot, so have fun trying to find them all.

Also, this past weekend FUSION had the honour of singing on the TNL show which also featured Realtime. We have to say that not only are they a great quartet with an incredible sound, but they are also some of the nicest guys to just hang out with. Now go checkout MINI.ca and come back and let us know what you think!

Also, check back soon as we have loads more pictures from our BinG trip to Germany that we are preparing to put

FUSION goes to Germany

by fusionqt @ Wednesday, Mar. 08, 2006 - 11:22:02 pm
FUSION, travelling as part of Toronto Northern Lights, recently returned from Dortmund, Germany where we were participating in Barbershop Musikfestival 2006.  This is BinG's (Barbershop in Germany) bi-annual contest and convention, and Fusion was lucky enough to be mike warmers for the Friday night quartet contest.
Performing in Konzerthaus Dortmund was a treat, one of the finest halls in the world.  Even more of a treat was meeting and singing with so many wonderful people, not only from Germany, but Holland and England as well.  It was an incredible and incredibly humbling experience we will never forget.  Congratulations to The Harmunichs (can you guess where they're from?) on winning the chorus contest, and Inflagranti for winning the quartet contest.  To
everyone we met and had a song with, stay in touch, drop a note in our guestbook and thank you for such a fantastic experience! (See the photos page for more)

FUSION Judges Novice Contest in St. Thomas

by fusionqt @ Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005 - 11:43:01 pm
Last week FUSION had the honour of judging the 11th William R. Morton Memorial Novice Quartet Contest in St. Thomas. This was a great night of quartet encouragement. It was extra special for our tenor Brent as the contest is named after his grandfather. Brent was a winner of the contest in 1990 with his dad Gary, back when he lived in and sang with St. Thomas.
